Rotterdam, The Top Modern City

Rotterdam is the second largest city in the Netherlands and is a bustling metropolis with exciting things to do and discover. Art, architecture and culture are what characterize Rotterdam the most, here are many interesting museums and exhibitions that attract the interest of most.

On Two Wheels Through Art and Culture

The state-of-the-art city with its magnificent skyscrapers has a lot to offer with its fantastic culture. The best way to get between the different sights is by bicycle, wide streets provide the perfect conditions and you will quickly appreciate the means of travel as the city will turn out from a completely different perspective. We start at Rotterdam Central Station, Rotterdam Centraal, the train station with the most spectacular architecture you will ever see. The station was built in 2014 and represents the city and its new thinking, for example with the building’s roof which is largely covered by solar panels.

We also move to the bridge that connects the north with the southern part of Rotterdam. The bridge called Erasmusbrug crosses the Maas River and is, besides an important link between the districts, also a well-visited attraction because of its magnificent design.
Finally, we must not miss a visit to the famous cube houses “The Cube House” which consists of 39 bright yellow houses that are shaped like cubes and tilt at 45 degrees. These were built in 1977 by architect Piet Blom and have become one of Rotterdam’s most famous tourist destinations. Today most of the houses are inhabited but one of them is open as a museum and is well worth a visit.

From Galleries to Nightclubs

Here in Rotterdam you will find food from every corner of the world with everything from famous Michelin-starred restaurants to Spartan street kitchens. A popular street is Witte de Withstraat, which during the days attracts many visitors to its many art galleries and cafes, in the afternoon the street turns into an atmospheric gathering place with restaurants and nightclubs. Here you can sip a good cocktail, party all night or just grab a beer and enjoy the atmosphere of a bar.
