Tivoli opened its doors in 1843 and is today one of the oldest amusement parks in the world. As you step through the gates, your thoughts immediately bring you to Walt Disney, which might not come as a surprise as Mr. Disney got inspiration from his visit at Tivoli. With over 25 rides, arcades, stages where concerts are being held, Christmas market, Easter celebrations and other fun events, your visit is guaranteed to be anything but boring. During the summer many concerts and theme days are arranged here such as Wednesday Jazz and Friday Rock. When it comes too food, there are more than 15 different restaurants, food stalls and cafes, most of which are located in a so-called Food Hall. Another place in Copenhagen that is definitely worth a visit is The Carlsberg Glyoptek. Here you will find over a thousand paintings and sculptures and also Europe´s largest collection of antique art and an impressive collection of French Impressionism. The art museum also has a beautiful garden and a small café.
Take the opportunity to make a visit to the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art which is located just by the Humlebäck train station on the train route between Helsingör and Copenhagen. A large number of international artists are featured here, including Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Alberto Giacometti and the Swedish artist Anna Bjerger. The museum has been expanded a number of times and has plenty of space for both permanent and temporary exhibitions, a café and a small workshop where children can create art. Do not miss a walk in the garden outside the building where you can spot different sculptures.
Go to North Jutland and spend a few days on the beach and enjoy the fresh air from the sea. When you need a break from the sun there are many nice excursion destinations, for example you can visit some a farm shops which are located nearby and if you enjoy a a glass of good wine we recommend the Glenholm Vingård which is one of the oldest vineyards in Denmark. For other tasty experiences you can go to Thorupstrand where you can buy fresh fish and other local specialties or visit one of the many food festivals in North Jutland such as the Seafood Festival and the Jungfruhummer Festival.
Lönstrup, also known as the “village of art” is a perfect place for those who appreciate art and crafts. Watch as the skilled glassblower turns a hot glass ball into fantastic glassware, or when the ceramicist creates beautiful bowls, vases and other things. You will also find craft shops with creative jewellery manufacturers and skilled fine carpenters, design and art galleries featuring both Danish and international art, lovely restaurants and old, admirable churches.
