Bled is a fantastic destination during the summer, there is plenty to find and the surroundings are incredibly beautiful. Rent a bike and cycle around the lake at your own pace, stop at a cozy place and have a little picnic. Walking around the lake is very relaxing or why not rent your own boat? There are boat trips that take you to the tiny island where there is a castle and a bell that you are allowed to ring (if you wish something when you ring the bell, the wish will certainly turn in). But keep in mind that during the high season, the place is usually full of tourists. Stroll up to Straza or get up in a lift. At the top there is a small amusement park. Near the lake you can go on adventurous rafting, you can kayak in caves and test on canyoning and of course – just be and enjoy the scenery! Don’t forget to eat the yummy Bled Cream Cake!
If you stretch a bit from beautiful Bled, you will find Bohinj, among others. It is another lake, without castles and without any houses by the lake and in fact this is a favorite of some Slovenes. Maybe this will be your favorite too? There are many hiking trails in the hooks, both shorter and longer. Here you will also find Vogel which is one of the mountain peaks and also a ski resort. Take the cable car and admire the beautiful view of the Julian Alps. Another nice detour is Soca, which has been nicknamed the “Emerald River” because of its intense color. The Postonjave cave is also well worth a visit, walking around among stalactites and stalagmites, eventually you come out to a castle where the rooms are half cave and half castle.
