Trondheim
Trondheim is Norway’s third largest city after Oslo and Bergen, and is full of lush parks, fine architecture and fun activities. Although it is Swedens neighboring country, Norway has a much more different and dramatic nature than Sweden has, therefore Trondheim is perfect for discovering as there are powerful mountains and fjords for a day trip around.

Something for everyone

The fact that the city is one of the most popular student cities is not strange as there is a fantastic city center with good shopping, while nature is always close by. Just north of the city center is Bymarka, which is a large outdoor area. In the wooded area you can run or walk along the paths that cross lakes and ponds and for those who have coffee with you there are resting places and lookouts where you can settle down. During the winter, the trails become ski tracks and are filled by snow-capped skiers instead.

With its many students, Trondheim also has a large selection of restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Most people flock to Karl Johans gate where the party is going on until the morning and the atmosphere is always on top.

If you are looking for a quieter area, you can visit Bakklandet which is a charming little neighborhood with quaint little streets and colorful houses. Here you can stroll around the cobbled streets among cozy cafes and small inviting shops. The best way to get here is via Old Bybro or Lyckans Portal, as it is also called, which is also the perfect subject for the camera.

The world’s northernmost medieval cathedral

The city’s most popular attraction is the mighty Nidaros Cathedral with its impressive medieval architecture and its beautiful windows. Stroll around the large church or choose to climb one of the high towers where you can get a great view of the city. Traditionally, the Norwegian regents should be crowned here, so take a look here and take a look at the Norwegian crown jewels in the neighboring building or enter the church during a worship service or mass and let yourself be fascinated by the Gothic decor.
